The Stairs of Faith at Angel's Landing. Zion National Park. The cliffs below drop precipitously approximately a thousand feet on both sides. When I first attempted this hike I refused to climb these steps until three young ladies came down them from the other side. Their encouragement led me to continue onward. Very near the top (just outside this frame) with twilight only an hour or so away, I was overheard by another hiker to say that I would settle for missing the summit. That same hiker asked me what I imagined I would think about on the way down (just barely making it to the top), and prodded me to finish the hike. I was so elated by the achievement of my goal (through the assistance of others), my descent was filled with exubrence and joy. My lesson? Keep pressing onward toward my goals (Philippians 3:14).
